New Augusta North Athletics Update Week of November 15th
On Thursday night the Pike Township Board of Education in accordance with the latest, Marion County health order voted to resume the all-virtual format beginning on November 23rd. Athletics will continue without interruption during this time. Practices will begin at 4:30 and all protocols will remain in place. A couple of quick reminders as we move forward with the all virtual format on the 23rd.
This week’s update includes schedule updates for boys’ basketball, wrestling, girls’ basketball and fall pictures.
7/8 Boys’ Basketball- Tuesday, November 17th the team will travel to Creston MS. Team members will be given 4 vouchers for tickets at practice on Monday. These vouchers must be presented at the game on Tuesday in order to purchase tickets on Tuesday. Vouchers are good for parents only, no siblings or extended family members.
Any parent transporting their athlete to the game should notify their coach 24 hours prior and must have a travel waiver on file.
Thursday, November 19th will be a home game for the boys’ team. We received guidance from the district late Friday afternoon and are awaiting further clarification before we release our new procedures based on the latest state, county, and district orders and mandates. Information will be released as soon as that clarification is received.
7/8 Girls’ Basketball- the girls will have open gym on Tuesday, November 17th from 4:30-6 in the main gym. Any girl wishing to attend must complete the following sign up Google Form- Girls Basketball Sign Up Form. All girls wishing to participate should also have a physical on file from last year, a fall sport, or obtain a new physical. Physicals are available on a walk-in basis from Pike Medical on 79th and Michigan.
Tryouts- Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 30th from 6:30-8:30 and run through Wednesday, December 2nd. If an athlete wants to tryout they must have a physical on file, sign up using the above Google form, and complete or update their Activity Registration at the following link- https://napan-ar.rschooltoday.com/
Wrestling- wrestling conditioning will continue on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week for 6th, 7th and, 8th-grade boys and girls interested in competing in wrestling this year. Wrestling is a co-ed sport and we are fortunate at NAN to have a former female state champion coach on our staff this year. We would love to have any of our female athletes who are interested to check it out. Athletes should have a physical on file and complete the following Google Sign Up Form- Wrestling Sign Up Form
Fall Sports Pictures- pictures were distributed last week to fall athletes who were in Cohorts 1 and 2. If your athletes is all virtual please contact the athletic office to arrange a time to pick those up at firstname.lastname@example.org
