The IHSAA has created a new consent to participate form for the 2020-21 season. Among the changes are questions about Covid-19 and new requirements for who must have a new physical to participate. ALL athletes who plan to participate in a sport during the 2020-21 school year must fill out a new consent form. If an athlete has a physical on file from the 2019-20 school year they do not need a new physical UNLESS, they had a surgical procedure performed since their last physical OR have been diagnosed with a concussion since the date of the last physical. Please follow the link below or you may find it in the Quick Links section of our website.

PHOENIX BOYS' BASKETBALL & CHEERLEADERS
Congratulations to both of our Phoenix boys' basketball teams for their very successful seasons. The 8th grade team, coached by Bill Collins and Brandon Taylor, finished with just one regular-season loss and an overall record of 11 - 3. They earned the Pike 8th Grade Boys' Basketball Championship title by defeating both Lincoln and Guion Creek in December.

The 7th grade team also claimed the Pike Championship title, and they, too, had just one regular-season loss. In early December, victories over Perry Meridian, Heritage Christian, Westlane, and Creston took them to the Marion County Tourney final game at Ben Davis High School, where they defeated Belzer 52 - 48 to bring home the championship trophy. In the MIIC tourney, the team defeated Westlane at home and Belzer again in the semi-final game. This semi-final game was 4 quarters of exciting full-throttle, hard-played basketball by both teams. The boys played just as hard, but fell short of taking down the Stonybrook Red Storm in the conference championship game.

Our Phoenix boys enjoyed superb support form our 7th and 8th grade cheerleading squads both at home and on the road this season, and both home and away crowds enjoyed and appreciated their enthusuastic and excellent performances at the games.

Again, congratulations to all for a job very well done.
