New Augusta North Athletics Update Week of May 10th

This week’s athletics update includes information on Physicals, Covid-19 Safety Protocols, Baseball, Track, Tennis, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Soccer and Football

Covid-19 Safety Protocols- The MSD of Pike Township remains committed to providing the safest environment for spectators and athletes at our events.

  • According to Marion County Health Department guidelines capacity for spectators will be set at 50% capacity for the facility.
  • Masks are still a requirement for all spectators and athletes who are not actively participating in events.
  • Students not accompanied by a parent are not allowed to attend athletic events at NAN. Any student who is not accompanied will be required to contact a parent to have them picked up from the event.
  • Concessions will not be available at NAN athletic events.

Physicals- This announcement concerning physicals was released last week by the district.

In years past we’ve utilized our partnerships with St. Vincent and now Franciscan Health to provide onsite physicals for student-athletes. As a result of the ongoing pandemic, the MSD of Pike Township will again be unable to provide this service. In order to participate in district-sponsored sports that begin after July 1, 2021, a current physical obtained after April 1, 2021, must be on file prior to participation. Physicals can be obtained by your child’s regular pediatrician or other local healthcare providers. Please contact the NAN athletics office at for additional information. Thank you.

In addition to that Pike Medical on 79th and Michigan has provided sports physicals to Pike athletes for several years. They are open until 8pm and on weekends from 11-2.

All athletes who plan to participate in a sport in the 2021-22 school year will need a new IHSAA Sports Physical. The forms are available on our website, at the athletics office or most doctor’s offices keep some on hand. Once all sections of the sports physical have been completed there are three ways to turn it in.

  1. Hand deliver to the Athletic Director
  2. E-mail it to
  3. Upload it on our Activity Registration. If you have any problem with this step let that athletic office know.

Incoming freshman should contact their high school athletics office for instructions on the best way to turn them in.

Postponements and Cancellations- the weather this week may result in cancellations or postponements. We will post that information as soon as a decision is made. The first place it will be posted is on our Twitter account, @AthleticsNapan and on our website Decisions will be made in most cases by 2pm, however as we all know Mother Nature does not often cooperate.

Cheerleading- Please see the following flyer with the dates for cheerleading conditioning, clinics and tryouts. Any girl still wanting to try out should sign up on the website at

Cheer Tryout Flyer

This week begins the 2nd phase of the cheer tryouts, the clinics. This is where the students trying out will begin to learn the cheers and routines they will perform for tryouts. The tryout dates are May 20th and 21st. Cheer Applications and physicals must be turned in by Wednesday May 19th in order to tryout. Applications have been distributed but replacements forms will be placed on the website for printing off.
